Entropy
November 19th, 2008 by lo-budge

BIO: Entropy formed in 1994 after Mulligan Stump (version one) disbanded due to Rob Ritter going back to school in California and Chris Chavez starting reggae sensation Mystic Vision with Scott Aaron and Jason Garduño.  Chris Gatley, Nick, and I were able to get Jeremy Barnes (who Nick had played with in high school in a band called Montclaire Blues) to be our drummer.  We wrote a lot of new songs with Jeremy and played several shows at bars and parties.  Nick and I often joke about how Jeremy left the band (he says we kicked him out) – only to see him join Neutral Milk Hotel and record on the amazing “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea”.  He was (and is) a truly phenomenal drummer that we were happy to play with for about a year and a half.  Jeremy is currently recording as A Hawk and a Hacksaw, which I heartily recommend seeing live.

Towards the end of this band, Rob Ritter moved back to Albuquerque (and plays on a couple of songs noted below and helped record them and a few others), which led us to regroup Mulligan Stump (which coincided with Chris Chavez being available to be our drummer again).

Band Members: Sergio Chavez (bass), Nick Campbell (guitars, airplane take-off sound), Jeremy Barnes (drums), Chris Gatley (vocals).  Rob Ritter (guitars) joined towards the end.

Years of Operation: 1993 – 1994

Location: Albuquerque, NM

Song List:

The following songs were recorded in a studio in Albuquerque (I can’t remember the studio name, but it was operated out of a house and the engineer said Bobby McFerrin was going to record there after us):

Airplane (We spent about four hours on the keyboard-generated “take-off” sound at the beginning. )

All Alone

Honeysuckle

These songs were recorded using a variety of different methods:

Airplane

Airplane (Version 2)

Honeysuckle (version 2 – with birds!)

If Only

Into the Blue
