The Clash – Guns Of Brixton
Nov 24th, 2009 by lo-budge

YouTube – The Clash – Guns Of Brixton Video.

This is another of my all-time favorite Clash songs.

I attended the Flicker “Attack of the 50 Foot Reels” event at Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill last night where Kyla and I’s film “Sandwich of the Day” was shown along with seven others.  All of the 3 minute films were great and it was a fun evening.  If I can ever find links to the actual films online I will post them on this site, but I don’t think Flicker digitally archives the super 8 film.

I will be at home the next five days and will have time to do some more scanning.

UNKLE – Main Title Theme
Nov 23rd, 2009 by lo-budge

YouTube – UNKLE – UNKLE Main Title Theme.

I added another version of the song “Airplane” by Entropy over the weekend.  I also scanned more than half of what I estimate to be 60 or 70 pages of comics, and I’ll get them posted as soon as I can!  I can’t believe how many of them I had forgotten about, and they probably won’t be very funny to anyone besides the people who drew them, but some of them had me in stitches.

I should be able to squeeze another 10 songs or so out of the tapes I got from Chris Gatley.

Tony Allen – Unlimited Project
Nov 20th, 2009 by lo-budge

YouTube – TONY ALLEN – UNLIMITED PROJECT : Let the drums play – studio recording.

From Chris:

Tony Allen, from Nigeria, the innovator of Afrobeat. He was Fela Kuti’s original drummer. He was the drummer for the recent project by Damon Albarn “The Good, the Bad and the Queen”. This is some sort of footage of him recording a track. He has the most dead-pan face ever while he drums. I really like this afrobeat rhythm he is playing here, its very hypnotic.

The Big Pink – Dominos
Nov 19th, 2009 by lo-budge

YouTube – The Big Pink – Dominos Official Video.

I received the comics today, and it was killing me to see some of these old drawings.  I had quite a few more of my own in there than I remembered.  I’ll get to scanning them as soon as I can.  Thanks, Marty!  He sent along a CD containing this song.

Six new songs
Nov 17th, 2009 by lo-budge

I added the following songs tonight from the cassette tapes that Chris Gatley sent me a year ago (and the Mulligan Stump and G Faithful pages have been updated accordingly):

Days Gone By (Mulligan Stump)

FOP (Mulligan Stump)

Moon Baby (G Faithful)

Trash-o-matic (G Faithful)

Is The Poor Lad Dead Yet? (G Faithful)

Crumplefoot (G Faithful)

Many more will probably follow soon …

But the best find I had all night was this tape insert from Robin Ritter that was given to Chris (and sent to me 15 years later):

Kings Of Convenience – Stay Out Of Trouble
Nov 17th, 2009 by lo-budge

YouTube – Kings of convenience – Stay out of trouble (homemade video).

This is another fan-made video for a wonderful song.

I have confirmation that the comics I have been waiting to scan are in the mail and on their way to me.  I will be busy scanning them for a few weeks, and I may not post them until they are all done, but we’ll see how long it takes.  I’ll probably have two comics tabs instead of just the one so they won’t take forever to load.

I also had to find my tape deck again last night after some hasty cleaning had been done around the house, but I did find it and now just need to hook it up to my mixer so I can dump down a few cassette tapes from the Mulligan Stump era that I may not already have songs for up on this site.  The stupid tape deck doesn’t even have a headphone output on it so it’s a pain in the ass.

So by the end of the week there should be significant additions to the site …

Radiohead – Where I End And You Begin
Nov 16th, 2009 by lo-budge

YouTube – Where I End And You Begin.

This is some sort a fan video that Radiohead apparently included on one of their recent DVD’s.

I got caught up in other stuff this past weekend so nothing new was uploaded yet.  Maybe by the end of next weekend instead!

808 State – Lift
Nov 13th, 2009 by lo-budge

YouTube – 808 State – Lift (ZANG 20).

From Chris:

Lift by 808 State, everybody’s favorite acid house group from Manchester, England. I love this song! It is hands-down my favorite track by 808 State. It reminds me of being on the beach in Santander, Spain. This lo-budget video doens’t do the song justice, but there are some sweet computer animated 3D geometric design sequences.
Sergio’s brother Jaime introduced us to 808 State. He heard their track “Pacific State” while listening to an electronic music show on a local Albuquerque station probably around 1990.
Wu-Tang Clan – M.E.T.H.O.D Man
Nov 12th, 2009 by lo-budge

YouTube – Wu-Tang Clan – M.E.T.H.O.D Man [HQ].

I don’t think I have listened to this song in the past seven years until today, and I don’t know how it popped into my head this morning.
